York Day 2!

York Day 2!

What a day!

After a delicious breakfast we swiftly marched to York Minster where we learnt all about the history of this beautiful building. We saw an interesting exhibition showing how underneath the Minster are lots of Roman remains and we learnt how the building has evolved throughout the centuries.

Next, we set off to York Castle Museum. There was a fantastic Victorian street, it was like stepping back in time. We experienced what it would be like to go to school in Victorian times. We also explored the old dungeons and saw what horrible conditions the prisoners survived in.

Straight after this, we went on a York river cruise. A local expert pointed out interesting sights along the Riiver. We were able to see how people protect themselves against the floods.

As a treat we enjoyed some delicious homemade ice-cream in the park.

After quickly catching our breath, we were off again! Next we went for a brisk walk along the old Roman wall.

We finished the day with a scary ghost walk through the City. Let’s hope we all sleep well tonight.

We are looking forward to Flamingo Land tomorrow!
